Is Baptism Your Next Step?
Life is full of next steps, each one bringing us closer to the God who created us and loves us. If you’ve made the decision to follow Christ, one of the most valuable next steps you can take is baptism. Keep reading to find out more about baptism, what baptism looks like at
Urban Life Church, and how you can get baptized.
What Is Baptism All About?
Baptism is about following Jesus' example
In Matthew 3, Jesus chose to get baptized before starting His ministry
here on Earth. When we make that same choice, we’re living how Jesus lived. Later, in Matthew 28, Jesus told His followers to go and baptize others.
As we get baptized and baptize others, Jesus’ message of love spreads around the world.
Baptism is a symbol of what did for us
When we go down into the water, we’re reminded of Jesus’ death on the cross and how His sacrifice covered our sins. When we come out of the water, we’re reminded that three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and securing eternal life for us. Baptism is a symbol—not just for us, but for our friends and family as well—that the old is gone and the new has come.
Baptism is about going public with your faith
When you make a life-changing decision, you want to tell everyone about it! Baptism is an opportunity for you to celebrate with your friends and family and tell others about the hope you’ve found in Jesus.
How Can You Get Baptized?
The first step to getting baptized is attending a service and making the decision to be baptised. From there, you can come forward towards the end of the meeting and receive the clothes you need to be baptised.

After receiving your items, you'll change into your baptism t-shirt and extra clothes. We will have someone ready and waiting to walk you through getting in and out of the baptism pool. Once you've been baptised we will take a moment to pray for you.
